Micro-badging is a hot topic in education! These bite-sized visual representations provide clear evidence that learners have acquired a specific skill and are sought after by employers. Micro-badges are portable, easy to consume, and easy to trust. ITEEA's STEM Center for Teaching and Learning™ is offering a 14-hour micro-badging professional learning series focusing on safety in the STEM classroom.
2021-2022 Safety Micro-badging Series
•Oct 9; 9am-1pm: General Safety Topics in STEM Ed: Examining the progress of safety in STEM education and reviewing ten recommendations for a safer school year.
•Oct 23; 9am-11am: Safer Lab Design and Maintenance: A well-maintained lab is a safer lab. Explore strategies to involve students in laboratory maintenance.
•Nov 6; 9am-11am: 3-D Printing Safety: Can 3-D printers cause harm?
•Nov 20; 9am-11am: Safety in the Robotics Lab: From drones to battle bots, students build the most ingenious things but, is safety a concern?
•Dec 4; 9-1:00pm: Handheld and Portable Tools: Enhancing technology and engineering in STEM classrooms; exploring safer tool usage AND Safer Makerspaces (focus on interdisciplinary considerations): Building in safer practices from the beginning.
Upon completion of each of the five session, participants will receive:
•A one-year electronic ITEEA Membership
•Discounted Registration at ITEEA’s 2022 Annual Conference in Orlando
•Safety Microbadge to add to the bottom of their email signature
•A one-year CTEEA Unified Membership
