About the Event

Gabe Stacy from Acture Solutions Inc. will be hosting a workshop for IT Directors, Superintendents of schools, and data management folks. This tabletop activity will help raise awareness and evaluation of networking practices and prep decision-makers on creating a response plan to a cyber attack. In addition to ensuring continuity of the learning environment, Public K-12 schools are responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of student and staff personally identifiable information. With the rapid adoption of remote learning capabilities, protection of District data and the technology network is paramount. Districts much understand cybersecurity risk management and participate in regular tabletop exercises. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency encourages this systems-based approach to security and encourages cybersecurity tabletop exercises to enhance preparedness. This cybersecurity tabletop exercise will cover an overview of cybersecurity landscape, terminologies, and active defenses. In addition, participants will tabletop an actual cyber-attack on an anonymous District. Upon completion of the tabletop exercise, an incident response plan will be discussed with an emphasis on preparing your people, process, and technology. The required plans, processes, and coordination to manage cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities effectively can be complex and involve numerous stakeholders. This exercise is meant to bring some of those stakeholders together in a non-crisis environment to prepare and confirm that responses and recovery are well-coordinated.
